Overdraft Protection

OPPA Credit Union offers its members the convenience and peace of mind of overdraft protection. We will approve you for overdraft protection up to $1,000 automatically, if you have your full pay cheque deposited into an OPPA Credit Union account. If a portion of your pay is deposited to your OPPA Credit Union account, we will automatically approve you for overdraft protection up to $500. Limits above $1,000 require an application and must meet our lending criteria.
 

Switching Your Banking is as easy as 1, 2, 3.

We understand your time is limited during this stage of your career. Enjoy the ease of the Credit Union helping you make all the required changes in 3 easy steps. We will help you transfer existing pre-authorized transactions (i.e. utility bills, insurance payments, loan payments, etc.), so don’t be intimidated, we are here to help.

The 3 easy steps are:

  1. Provide us with the address(es) and account number(s) for loan payments, bill payments, pre-authorized payments, etc. so we can prepare the form.  Here is an account switch checklist for your convenience
  2. All you need to do next is sign the form
  3. Then we will send it off to each company along with a voided cheque with your new account information

We can also arrange to transfer your remaining balance from the other financial institutions to your OPPA Credit Union account. Just remember to leave enough money in your account to cover pre-authorized transactions for the next 4-6 weeks.

Me2Me Transfers

Members can transfer funds to and from their accounts held at the OPPA Credit Union and those held at other financial institutions. While you’re in the process of transferring all your banking to the Credit Union, this can be a convenient way to transfer between accounts during the transition period.

Me2Me Transfer is easy to set up, simply complete and return a one-time online banking Me2Me Transfer Authorization form

Me2Me provides the following:

  • Me2Me Transfers are free
  • Me2Me Transfers may take up to three days to complete the clearing process
  • Money may be transferred between U.S. dollar accounts, but both U.S. accounts must be held at Canadian financial institutions; transfer may not be made between Canadian dollar and U.S. dollar accounts
  • The daily outgoing transfer limit is $25,000. The daily incoming transfer limit is $50,000. Weekly and monthly limits also apply
  • There are no additional fees for incoming or outgoing Me2Me Transfers (beyond the applicable account debit transaction fee)
